I talk about the importance of never being 'busy'. There are things that you need to do, and you're occupied in doing something, but using the word 'busy' and being busy all the time is never a good thing, especially when it comes to Tech Minimalism and your focus and everything that encompasses that.
There was an article. I think it was on Monday that I saw by a guy called Tim Denning. I will link it down below. And he was talking about how some executives misunderstand being busy and how they keep doing back to back meetings, which is what I spoke about earlier this week. And somehow, that's making them more important.
Being busy doesn't actually mean you're getting anything done. In fact, it's the absolute opposite that I find. If you're constantly busy, and I know someone, and she'll be watching this, I'm sure. She's always, always looking for the next thing. You're always looking for being busy, making, 'being busy', and then making you look more important than you are.
That sounds weird. But that's the only thing I can think of. And when I saw this article about how people brag about being busy, it just seems so ridiculous to me.
Now. Why am I never busy? And why do I tell people you give me the time to meet? Because there's hardly anything in my calendar. The things that are in my calendar, insanely important, obviously things that are in my to-do list are crazy important, but I set time aside to actually get those things done.
So if you don't have that system to be able to have focus on the thing that you want to do. You'll never get anything done. You're constantly busy and 'busy-ness', isn't something to be proud of being productive and having things to do are different to being busy. And I would try to throw 'busy-ness' out of your ecosystem the way you work.
Anyway, have a great day. And I'll see you in the next one. Ciao.
